Alpe d'Huez is a vibrant town with plenty of bars and restaurants. Prices are not as exhorbitant as elsewhere in the Alps which is an appealing factor for younger visitors and people often report on how friendly it is. There are a wide range of facilities ranging from the indoor swimming pool to the ice rink, the luge to the indoor tennis courts and other more adventurous activities such as frozen waterfall climbing and night-skiing. The mountain restaurants are not bad but sadly the more attractive ones are not always accessible to non-skiers. If you want to stroll round a rural, rustic village then head to Vaujany before going back to party the night away in Alpe d'Huez itself.
